I’m Priscilla Moothien, founder of EduRights.

As a mum of two young boys, I understand how important it is to secure the right educational setting for a child, and how exhausting the process can feel. That is why I set up EduRights — to offer specialist advice and representation that is thorough, realistic and properly informed.

I bring my background as an education lawyer and extensive experience at local authority level, working on special educational needs and disability matters including EHCP processes, tribunal appeals, school exclusion appeals, safeguarding and bullying. I hold a CILEX-accredited legal qualification, have been called to the Bar, and have over 13 years’ experience in advocacy. I am required to maintain up-to-date knowledge of the law and procedure, so the support I provide is grounded in current legal standards as well as practical reality.

My earlier work in mental health law developed particular expertise in interpreting medical evidence and working with medical professionals and CAMHS — skills that regularly prove valuable in complex SEND cases.

I am currently a school governor and have previously held governor roles focused on SEN and safeguarding. I have also sat as a local authority panel member dealing with exclusions, admissions appeals, bullying and safeguarding. This means I have seen the system from both sides — supporting families while understanding the practical realities that schools and local authorities work within.

My approach is calm, detailed and practical. I will explain the process clearly, prepare thoroughly, and stand with you through meetings, correspondence and hearings.

I have set up EduRights as an independent consultancy rather than a regulated legal firm. This allows me to offer knowledgeable, practical support at more competitive rates while still drawing on my full professional experience.
